GT2Seanathon - 6.823
First up was Seanathon with a good numbered car, 63! This car has a VERY loose body/chassis setup which ran very smooth with good side/forward bite. Car can lift front or rear inside tire if not smoothly driven entering turns. Rear tires have a bit of an asymmetrical profiling left versus right but nothing noted on track.
BOV - 7.310
Drives like a big smooth car. Can get a little front end hop under acceleration. Left front seems to have more travel, gets out of synch if turning and getting on power. Soft motor and brakes for this track.
Alexis in Greece - 7.155
Vertical play in front causes front hop. Needs to be driven VERY precisely with sideslip angle in turns. Sweet spot is very narrow. Easy recovery from slide just loses a bunch of time if you drive past the optimum. Lots of noise in body float.
9000CSE - 7.913
Firm body/chassis float, pod seems very smooth in flex, a little vertical and horizontal front axle slop. This Maserati is soooooo long! What feels like low power to weight ratio hurts here at Route 66. Heavy weight causes early braking points. Tires seem a bit down on overall grip.
low tech - 6.911
Snappy! Drives really well. Has VERY LOW cg. Front wheels have a little drag, after a drop of Super Lube, dropped 5/100ths. Too much traction on front tires causes front end shake through esses, if the cg weren''t so low car would probably de-slot there.
Fred Fries - 6.895
Lots of chassis/body float with some noise. Lots of vertical play in front axle, can get some front end shake at high speed. Drives very "flat". Left rear tire has a concave spot.
Haystack - 7.139
Fun! Good chassis/body float with a little noise coming from splitter. Lots of vertical play in front axle, with the suspension guide lets car lift front inside tire. Can start rocking too much through the esses. Any more power and would de-slot under power with current spring rate on guide.
RedLynr - 6.832
Smooth, fast easy to drive on the limit. Seems to want to unwind more, pulls a little harder mid-straight.
McLiams - 7.162
Little to no chassis/body float. Side-to-side play on rear axle. This causes chatter mid corner and accelerating. Good overall grip.
Lenny Broke - 7.067
Right front stub axle binding, had flat spotted the tire (really just "dusted" tire coating), Super Lube and some TLC to the rescue. Drives flat, smooth, and easy to put power down. Independent rotating front wheels like this does GREAT through the esses! Seems to be geared too high for this track, most of the trigger action is in the top half.
MRTIGGZ - 7.503
Right front has significantly more vertical travel than left. Rear axle has bearing slop and side-to-side play. Drives like it has a high cg. Tips out of the slot at the limit.
Austin- 7.267
Long wheelbase Saleens are easy to drive. Carries nose high and gets some front bounce (stiff braids). Seems to run out of motor and/or gear. Lots of front travel doesn''t seem to work well here at Route 66.
GT1Hawaii Takashi - 6.648
Wow! Wonderfully smooth and easy to drive. Seems impossible to de-slot. Well balanced, no surprises.
MRTIGGZ - 7.082
Asymmetric screw settings never seem to work here at Route 66. Lets left side of car drag on track. Body and chassis interfere during float. Pod needs tape or another technique to "dampen" the travel. Added tape to pod and car went a tenth faster (tape removed....). Still too much going on with the chassis/body interference which leads to front end hop/chatter.
WPSoko1 - 6.789
Another smooth HRS chassis! Only thing missing is more brakes, braking point is about 250mm sooner into first turn.
Fred Fries - 6.775
Si! Nice Repsol!! Very well balanced and easy to drive. Seems to be down a bit on side bite exiting turns, requires a smooth pull on trigger. A little body/chassis interference along with some side-to-side play on front axle makes car a bit more nervous than the other HRS (edit: not a HRS chassis! This is what nine pages of notes will do to you!) cars.
SpiritRacer - 7.017
No body screws? Very smooth car until it is loaded up in the turns. Causes either front or rear hop, and some times will tip out of slot unexpectedly.
Wet Coast Racer - 7.167
Tires are letting you down my friend. Car is otherwise smooth, well balanced and easy to drive. Does make a "nuck, nuck" sound during laps, not sure if it is the pod or chassis/body making contact.
BigDSonic - 7.136
Nice easy to drive car. Overall grip is down compared to some. I need to check if tires are silicone or urethane... Tires give up a bit in the turn and require a feathered trigger coming out onto the straights.
CKOUBA - 6.764
It''s a SLEEPER! Faster than is appears. NC-5 seems a little soft. Smooth body/chassis float. Magnetic motor pod suspension is very firm.
03Raledale - 7.156
Smooth car but down on side bite. Putting car on tech block, inside ¼ of rear tires are not on the block. Think this is hurting corner exit speeds, but forward bite is fine!
Haystack - 6.686
Nice! Smooth easy to drive car. A touch of rear chatter at the limit. Drives like it has AWD.
Fumey - 6.915
Made in Romania? Need to go look up your tech info! Super easy to drive, only hurt by overall grip (again, off to check tech info!)
Moby - 6.653
Nice! Perfect with a touch more brakes, but Dave L will like this one ("Roll into the turns Paul!")
AJK - 6.606
Oh Baby! I drive a lot of NSR 997s and C6Rs, was nervous when I saw the white pod (soft motor pod).... No worries!! If anything could use wider tires and more motor...but this thing is hooked up!
ArroldN - 7.541
Easy to drive but down on overall grip. Dual compound left rear tire? Will take a photo... If you look at the picture, the outboard 1/3 is dull, while the inboard 2/3s is shiny.
RedLynr - 6.585
Oh yeah baby! Drives like...well..like it is in a slot. Smooth, NO wasted noise/movement/chatter etc.
LMPArroldN - 6.934
Front tires set to allow only half of the guide to set in the slot. Car feels down on overall grip. No bad vices.
LindseyAngell - 6.861
It''s a grenade with the pin PULLED!! Too much motor for this track, and my favorite motors are Boxer/2s and King 21s!! Glued pod, little to no chassis/body float don''t give the tires a chance to hookup. Left rear tire especially is not flat, has some concave sections. Short stiff braid helps as wheelie control, but would probably be better with soft braid that goes back to the end of the flag.
Big Jack - 6.762
Saw right away the cars rear end pulls left under braking. Car is fast with good brakes. Putting car on tech block, pushing on right front lifts left rear. Pushing on left front everything sits on the block. Looking closer, front wheels are set at different heights, as well as rear end due to pod settings. Car not being square is killing your overall grip.
Rixvette - 7.130
Great car that wants a more flowing track that is rubber friendly! NSR tires just can''t keep up with sillies on Route 66.
Ask4Closer - 6.558
Typical Radical, smooth, drives flat. Giving up a bit of power and overall grip.
Dr Diff - 6.505
Nice! Guide binds against nose. My technique is to remove insulation from leads, and in cases like this, reduce the height of the guide where the eyelets fit into the guide. This should give you enough room to keep things from binding with the nose.
03Raledale - 6.741
Nice fast fire breathing offset Flat6R! Front axle with vertical play hinders performance at Route 66.
JSCOTIII - 6.381
Nice GT-ONE! Maybe a bit more motor and brakes. Easy to click off the laps.
Moby - 6.301
Moby! You build smooth, fast, easy to drive cars! This is the fastest an s-can has ever lapped Route 66.
CKOUBA - 6.388
Fast, quick, with great brakes. Front axle play and stiff pod make for a rough "edge" when on the limit. My kind of car!
Alexis in Greece - 7.159
Good smooth pod float. Body and chassis have some interference-click click. Torquey motor, pops wheelies right out of the slot. Limited grip from rear tires. Eyelets in guide bind with nose of body.
AJK - 6.476
WOW is this thing smoooooooth!! Great brakes, wonder if lower (numerically) gearing would shave off some time? Need to check out these MB Slot motors.
Off to play with the family and will get weight and balance and skid pad data before getting RGSCC together to RAAce!! I did video the qualifing, so will start the lovely process of putting about 7GB of video on YouTube
