Hello everyone! This is my first post on this forum and I hope my writing in English won't bother you too much.
I was invited to this forum and to this GB by Amen from ARC, as he knows my passion for Soviet/Russian aviation.
My first build will be 1:72 Hasegawa Su-33 'Flanker-D' with Aires exhausts, Dreammodel PE set and couple of other goodies.
I just decided I will build it as the 5th prototype T-10K-5, which was the first Su-33 I have seen in my life and had an opportunity to sit in the cockpit! It also had an interesting loadout of 2xR-73, 2xR-27, 2xS-25 and 2xB-8 with Sorbstiya ECM pods on the wingtips.

As I am building this model for the Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine, I am not allowed to publish many photos, so I apologize in advance.
Here's the progress so far. I'm slowly getting to the painting stage

Great work my friend! The cockpit and the exhausts are really amazing! After my current project I'm planning on building a Su-27 myself so the exhaust colors you used are going to be my guide for my project! ::salut:: ::salut::

finally some progress - main paintjob done, detail painting will follow soon. I also ordered S-25 unguided heavy rockets.

I have a question here. As I said before, I am building this model as 5th prototype T-10K-5, Blue 69, which was weapons testbed. When I saw this aircraft, it was armed the following way:
Sorbstiya, R-73, 2xS-25, empty, empty, 2xR-27R, empty, empty, 2xB8M, R-73, Sorbsriya
Now as I also have Moskit anti-ship missile which I can use, would you think it would be very wrong if I use it, too. Keep in mind, this airframe was the only one that was photographed with Moskit attached to it and in recent years was only used for static displays at MAKS airshows.
My proposed armament:
Sorbstiya, R-73, 2xS-25, empty, R-27R, Moskit, R-27R, empty, 2xB8M, R-73, Sorbstiya
what do you think?

Great job so far mate!
As for your loadout question: I too plan to build a Su-33, and since it actually can carry the weapon, i'd say go ahead and mount it!
It is certain to be an eye-catching point, having that big missile slung underneath!
-
First I have to say it is great painting on the model.
Since it was a testbed you can mount almost anything you want without anyone can say anything. It will be for sure very eye catching.
-
so so beautiful..great painting job..well done...just one question,,this aircraft was painted in two tone camo?
-
Thank you everyone!
just one question,,this aircraft was painted in two tone camo?
yes indeed, This aircraft wore several camouflages but from mid 2000s on was wearing only two-tone camo. Originally this aircraft wore 3-tone camo like the first operational examples, though the pattern was different. When it started its tests at Zhukovski it was repainted in two-tone camo, which was later modified again. It is also of interest, that this aircraft was wearing its bort number Blue 69 only on left side of the nose.

Amazing work so far and very nice painting. I can wait to see more progress on this one ::salut::
-
Thanks for the reply to my question,,great info and so useful information, keep up the good work
-
some progress after a while - the model was gloss coated with Aclad Aqua Gloss and decals were placed
-
Very nice and clean modeling.Did u have any drying problems whith the alclad acrylic varnish?
Good luck witht them rest!
-
Thanks mate! Aqua gloss works like charm - it's dry in about half an hour... I have problems with drying times of their other lacquers though
-
finished
designation of the first Flanker I had a chance to sit in its cockpit. Fifth Su-33 prototype in camo colours as seen at MAKS2007 airshow in Zhukovski. Loadout is similar, though I added Moskit anti-ship missile, which was never operational on this type, yet was seen carried by this prototype at one of eariler MAKS airshows.

Full build article with more photos will appear in of the following issues of Scale Aircraft Modelling magazine
