Excellent Zvezda's model! Decals are home made inkjet and a lot of masking for fuselage stripes.

I dedicate this model to the victims of this aircraft's crash in Indonesia on May 9th, 2012.

Beautiful work ,masking the lines would be a challenge.I predict that Zvezda's decals had bad quality as ussal.

If it's allright with you, can you tell me how you painted the white color?
Which paint did you use and wether it was sanded or not.
I'm about to paint my first civilian aircraft and i am very confused about how to paint the white.

southman: I actually painted the model with Alclad White Primer. It was fine sanded with 6000grit polishing pad between the coats. Finishing was done with Alclad Aqua Gloss for very high shine finish. A mix of payne's grey and burnt sienna oil colours was used as wash/filter which made the colour a bit warmer.

What technique did you use for keeping the cabin windows unpainted ?

Zvezda provides clear plastic parts for cabin windows but I don't like working with them as it presents a challenge with masking.

When building a model, I left the window holes and when the model was finished I filled each hole with white glue for wood. It is sort of a milky white colour when liquid but after it dries it becomes transparent.

Yes, I know the white glue and the related Micro Clystal Clear.
Doesn't this affect the paint?  Especially when cleaning the excess outside the holes?  Or do you apply it after the first varnish and clean with water?  And if so, you clean while it's still wet or wait for it to dry?
I apologize for all these questions, but you see I make mostly commercial aircraft and I try to find the best way to work with the windows.  For now I have used decals but sometimes they don't look very nice.

I was using Crystal Clear in the past and wanted to use it on this model as well. But after I opened the model I noticed that it has become very thick and unsuable. So I tried the white glue. I applied it at the very end of the build. White glue is quite thinner than CC and applies nicer. Also I guess because it is thinner, it gets sucked into the hole and nothing remains on the outside. I did however touched the area around the whole a few times, but I just cleaned them with wet napkin and reapplied the white glue into the hole. I clean it immediately when still wet.
