I'm using acrylic paints exclusively for all my painting! For filters I mainly use colors from "Life color".
They are a sort of very thin pigments and are dilluted with water. But also Vallejo acrylics are perfect and are also thinned with water.
Just put a dot of detergent (dish washer) into your first filter, to break the surface tension!!!
The following filters are no problem then.
The big advantage by using acrylics for filtering is the fast drying time of each layer and you can work straight forward. I often use a hairdryer between the layers to work even faster!
